The Hoh Rainforest
The Hoh Rainforest is located on the western part of the Olympic National Park and is one of the largest rainforests in the US, with ample annual rainfall. It’s one of the park’s most popular tourist hotspots and one of only four other rainforests located in the Olympic Peninsula. There are some cabins and rentals on offer in and around the area but act fast since they can get booked out quickly.
Hoh Rainforest Campgrounds
If you are looking for a more rugged experience in a campground, try out the rainforest campgrounds. It is an old-growth rainforest, meaning it’s a forest that has developed with minimum or no catastrophic disturbances over the years. The campgrounds accept tents, RVs, and trailers, but be sure to check with the grounds if RV sites are available beforehand. The site has 72 available campsites, with one group site and one site that is accessible for people with disabilities.
Now, on to the good part. The site is located close to tons of trails, with a few situated at the visitors center. The Hall of Mosses Trail and The Spruce Nature Trail are close to the campsite, with the Hoh River trail slightly further. But the Hoh trails also offer various other points to check out on your journey.
These campgrounds have a limit of a maximum seven-day stay, meaning space might become available quickly. Each site comes with a campfire ring and picnic table, while food lockers and water are available close to the restrooms. The closest showers are far away at Bogachiel State Park (23 miles), and payment to use the facilities is required. There is another at the Kalaloch campgrounds, but it is further away.
The Hoh Valley Cabins
Located in the heart of the rainforest are stylish and modernized cabins within walking distance of many activities. The location offers fishing, various hikes, beachcombing, and wildlife viewing without straying too far away. Firstly, the Hoh Rainforest Visitors station is 10 miles away, and there is lots to do there.
Located under one mile away from the Hoh River, the Hoh Valley Cabins is a great middle point to explore all the routes and sites in the Olympic National Park. A short 6 miles away, you can enjoy all there is to offer at the National Park. And if you feel like visiting a city close by, you can travel a short distance to the Forks and stock up on supplies.
You can visit Ruby Beach just a little further up, a short 26 minutes away. Or take a day trip to enjoy La Push and Rialto Beach all in the same trip. There are four cabins available at the location, each of them only one-bedroom, so it’s the perfect couple’s location. But there are sofa beds in each of the cabins as well.
Each cabin offers the same standard amenities, and if you are traveling with a toddler, you can request a cot. Beautiful gardens are laid out around the property, BBQ facilities are available, and each cabin comes with a sun deck.
The Southern Pacific Coast
At the southern end of the Olympic National Park coastline, you will have many fantastic beaches to explore. Beaches like South Beach, Kalaloch Beach, and Ruby Beach are all found on the South Western coastline. First, Second, and Third Beaches all form a part of this area. Many accommodation options are just waiting for you in and around these beautiful beaches.

If you will be spending most of your time exploring the National Park, this is a perfect place to act as your base. Kalaloch Beach is also a short seven miles away, and the Bogachiel trail is only 10 miles away. And if you ever need to restock on supplies, you can take a trip to Forks. You can also visit La Push and Second Beach if you want to take the long way around.
The house has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, with a large living area. The property is also pet friendly and has an extensive outdoor space ready for you to explore. There are large fields surrounding the property, and you can expect to see some animals there during your stay.
South Beach Campgrounds
They are located next to the Pacific Ocean in Olympic National Park in the South Beach campgrounds. The site sits atop a bluff that gives you a panoramic view of the ocean. The campgrounds work on a first-come, first-serve basis and have 50 campsites available. They only allow tents, trailers and RVs, and only 14 consecutive days are allowed per person. But be sure to check with the grounds that they have a site suitable for your RV.
There are tons to do if you decide to stay at the campgrounds. You can spend your time here surfing, swimming, kayaking, hiking, and doing much more. Kalaloch is only three miles away, and there you can enjoy the beach views. You can spot wildlife from the campgrounds, and whales are known to swim at the beach.
Each campsite comes with a table, fire ring, and grill, but unfortunately, you would need to bring drinkable water. The sites are between 20-to-35-square-feet, but they are all within walking distance of the beach. Campgrounds are open from mid-May to late-September, but you can visit the park’s webpage to see the current campground status.
Note: Please remember that the campground is first-come, first-serve. Contact the campgrounds before heading out to ensure that they have sites available.
