Gift Ideas For Outdoor Enthusiasts
When I first started camping, I quickly realized just how important having proper equipment was. There were times when I felt that camping was just not for me. Luckily, I was not a quitter, and I decided to research and purchase better equipment. Every year for Christmas I decided to start asking for better gear to help fuel my hiking and camping addiction. I wanted to put together an informative list of the best gifts for outdoor lovers. This list includes equipment I have personally asked for Christmas in years prior and guess what? They are all from one store! REI.
I absolutely love REI. I try to buy all my camping equipment from them. Why? Because their customer service is incredible, you can easily return items, they have the best quality gear, and if you are a member, you get 10% back on all purchases. So yes shopping at REI is a must for my family. So keep reading on for awesome gift ideas for outdoorsy people. 🙂

Black Diamond Storm Headlamp
When it comes to camping, headlamps are a must. Headlamps are super compact, and easier to use than regular flashlights. The Black Diamond is a perfect stocking stuffer for an outdoor lover. One of the best headlamps in the market is the Black Diamond Headlamp.
Smartwool Hiking Socks – Women’s
I love getting socks for Christmas every year. They are the perfect size for a stocking stuffer, and everyone needs socks! I have been using Smartwool for years now, and they can usually keep my feet nice and warm. I also love how they added a new pink version. I loved wearing them during my trip to Iceland.
Pendleton Yakima Camp Blanket
The Pendleton Yakima Camp Blanket has been getting some great reviews and for a good reason. It is warm, soft, durable and can be used indoors or outdoors. If you are not feeling a sleeping bag during your camping trip, the Yakima Blanket is a great alternative.
REI Co-op Flexlite Chair
What I love about this chair is just how compact it is. I have brought the Flexlite with me on so many road trips, backpacking trips, and I have even brought it with me on the plane. The Flexlite Chair can go anywhere you do.
Hydro Flask 32 fl. oz.
We have 3 of these flasks at home because we love them so much. Perfect for using anywhere and extremely durable, the Hydro Flask is a great reusable water bottle. What I like most about the Hydro Flask, is how it keeps my drinks nice and cold. My husband has even gotten in the habit of decorating his Hydro Flask with some National Park Stickers.
ENO DoubleNest Hammock
The DoubleNest Hammock is such a nice thing to have around. We always pack this sucker in case we have an awesome campsite with trees. Sometimes you just want to relax and lay down without being in your stuffy tent. A hammock is perfect for that. It packs pretty small, and so you can even take it with you on some hikes.
Exped Air Pillow
When I first started camping, the Exped Air Pillow was one of the first items I bought. I wasn’t sure how I felt about an inflatable pillow, but I decided to try it out. Six years later I am still using this awesome pillow on all my adventures. Why? Because it is super portable (When packed, it fits in my hand), very comfortable, and durable. It was probably one of the best investments I made for my camping gear.
GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Camper Cookset
Pots, pans, and dishes can be the bulkiest and annoying items to pack. Luckily GSI has come up with a nifty solution. They have made a Camper Cookset that is super compact and even comes with some plates and dishes. The set comes with 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 insulated mugs with lids, 2L pot with lid, 3L pot with lid, fry pan, pot gripper, and a sink sack.

Jetboil MiniMo Cooking System
Jetboils are a must while backpacking. They are packable and weigh a lot less than a stove. I always bring my Jetboil MiniMo with me on backpacking trips so I can boil water for my dry food. I also carry it with me on camping trips so I can easily make some coffee in the mornings.
REI Co-op Flash 22 Pack
One of the most durable items I have listed is the REI Flash 22 Pack. I have had the earlier version of this pack for 6 years now, and it is still trucking along. We are one of those people that beat up and use up our backpacks to the extreme, so I am pretty impressed that there hasn’t been one rip after all these years. Another impressive feature is just how lightweight and packable they are. When we go backpacking, they easily squish in our backpacking pack easily without taking up much room.
Arc’teryx Gamma LT Pants – Women’s
I just bought these pants, and I am already in love. I have tried many hiking pants, and they are just not durable, but these are another story. The Gamma LT Pants are durable, super comfy and have excellent pocket storage. What I love most about these pants is that they are stylish, which seems to be a problem with most hiking pants for women.
Luci Solar String Lights
Being able to decorate your campsite with a little more light at night can liven up the mood. The Luci Solar String Lights are solar powered and can help make your campsite feel homier.
Garmin inReach Mini 2-Way Satellite Communicator
This is a great stocking stuffer for Christmas. The Garmin InReach Mini is a perfect way to give family members peace of mind. You can exchange text messages while beyond cellular range with any cell phone, email address or inReach device. An excellent present for an avid hiker or backpacker.

Ooo I have one more suggestion for you! I gifted micro-spikes to my partner last year and they have been such a great addition to our outdoor gear collection. We have the Hillsound Trail Crampon Ultra, and they have been amazing for snowy, icy and honestly muddy hikes! Plus they are pretty lightweight, so we never hesitate to throw them in our packs just in case.
Thanks! I will be in Switzerland and I for sure want to go exploring so that will be perfect for that 🙂 Thank you Meghan
